FROM NORTH CAROLINA
Thanks to additional research and information provided by my Uncle, David Trueblood, it was discovered that in and around the turn of the 19th
Century (approxiamtely 1810), Caleb Trueblood (born: May 2, 1790) and his wife, Mary Pyle, moved their family to southern Indiana. This move came as a result of a dispute and/or disagreement with locals in Pasquotank County concerning the matter of slavery. The Trueblood's did not believe in such, so it was only a matter of time before their settlement status in North Carolina had become an "unwelcome" one.
Simultaneously, and shortly therafter, other Trueblood's from surrounding counties (Perquimans, Gates, Camden, Currituck & Chowan) followed the exodus from North Carolina to the State of Indiana, as well as other parts of the midwest, as well as the states along the western range of the Appalachian Mountains (Ohio, Kentucky & Tennessee).
Today, Trueblood's can be found all over the world, with a large population still living and working in Indiana. My Aunt, Pat Kosen, her daughters, Tanya & Susan, and their families, reside in Renton, WA (suburb of Seattle). My Uncle, Don Trueblood, lives in Salem, IN. His children, Bradley & Heather, reside nearby in Jeffersonville, IN. Dave & Mary Trueblood, and their children, Edye & Michael, reside in New Albany, IN.
In late 1959, my father, Chester M. Trueblood, moved from Palmyra, Indiana to Orlando, Florida after attending and graduating from DeVry Tech (now DeVry University) in Chicago, Illinois. He later relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida less than a year later. He eventually met and married my mother, Dianna Torzak, in 1961. Though they divorced in the fall of 1969, all of us remain to this day in Palm Beach County. Only myself and my mother
departed the State of Florida and lived elsewhere since said time. I resided in St. Louis, Missouri (June 1997-March 2000) and Salem, Indiana (March 2000-June 2001). My mother relocated to Big Spring, Texas in late August 1977, and returned to West Palm Beach in the fall of 1985.
My brother, Michael Trueblood, lives in North Palm Beach. My brother, Matt Trueblood, resides in Jupiter with his wife, Anne, and their two daughters, Maddison and Megan. My oldest brother, Tom Bazala, although born from our mother's previous marraige, is every bit an important and large part of our family and our lives. Tom resides in Somerset, Pennsylvania. His daughter, Lauren, lives in Indiana, PA.
David & Mary Trueblood have visited the area of the aforementioned counties in North Carolina this past October. They shared their stories & information, as well as their photos, with us at the Trueblood-Grimes Family Reunion at the Blue River Friends Church in Salem, Indiana on October 19, 2008. We have a great family and some terrific friends all over this country.
"RECOGNITION" AND "THANKS"
ARE IN ORDER
"Special Thanks" to all of those who assisted me in my research. "Thank You" Sandy Clark for your hard work and efforts in organizing our family reunion each year. Additional "Thanks" go out to Marcy & Kent Hamilton, Tony Trueblood, David & Mary Trueblood, Aunt Martha Jean Trueblood and Uncle Floyd & Aunt Frances Fletcher. You folks are the best! And a personal "You're The Greatest" award goes out to my cousin Edye & her husband Keith Osterkamp. You two are "super"! A very sincere "I Miss You Gals" is presented to my Aunt Pat Kosen, and my cousins, Tanya Kosen & Susan Oord. I have a special "I Would Like To See You Again" goes out to my Uncle George Kosen (I hope all is well with you). Then there's the ever so popular "Glad To Have Seen You" trophy that is to be given to my cousins, Bradley & Heather Trueblood, as well as my Uncle Don Trueblood. PS - I'm sorry I missed you this time Aunt Kathy, but I did get to meet Preston!
Celine & I love all of our family & friends that made our visit in 2008 a wonderful experience.
